This week we're celebrating International Women's Day and it’s the perfect time to champion not only the achievements of women but also our well-being. Over the past five years, I've learned some crucial lessons about health, self-care, and embracing my full potential. Here are 5 insights that have made a real difference, and I hope they inspire you to prioritise your own well-being.

  1. Painful abdomens during period and PMS that make you take a painkiller are NOT normal. Mild level of cramps that you can manage is acceptable, but being knocked out in bed or having to rely on pills to manage the pain might be a sign of an underlying condition or hormonal imbalance and should be evaluated by a health provider.

  2. Deficiency of Omega 3 is more common that you think. Supplementing good quality Omega blend can help you get rid of acne, reduce PMS symptoms, support hair growth (faster growth rate + baby hair!), help brittle and splitting nails become stronger, alleviate dry skin problems, have more energy to tackle life challenges, and so much more! For me it was a game changer.

  3. Doing everything by yourself and being super independent is not a badge of honour. It's great not having to rely on or burden others, but being a woman means I allow my husband to be a man and I shall take the jar of pickles to him, asking him to open it for me. And, by the way, being on top of everything for too long can lead to a severe burnout and serious health issues. Speaking from first hand experience. It's okay to rely on others if needed.

  4. God genuinely has a plan for me and I am not less important or less useful in God's kindgom just because I am a woman. Women play a crucial role in the Bible. Look at Deborah, who served as a wise and courageous judge, and Esther, whose leadership, bravery and strategic insight saved her people from destruction; not to mention the impact of Mary's, the mother of Jesus, obedience. Numerous biblical women, such as Ruth, Abigail, and the women who supported Jesus' ministry, demonstrate the indispensable part women have played in the unfolding of God's plan for humanity. God has a plan for me and you too, if you dare to go where He wants you to go.

  5. Investing in myself and my growth by self-development, developing self-awareness, and working on my confidence and self-worth, honouring my needs, learning what God says about me, learning to set boundaries, honour myself and respect my needs, made me a better person and had a profound positive impact on the people around me. I see now how being the light on hill or salt of the earth is relevant and that bettering yourself is a way to do it. Simply by me being me, but a better me than I was yesterday, I can bring light into someone else's life. And so can you. How awesome is that?!

Can you related to any of them? What was your light bulb moment?
